1 on 1 Amateur
Icedude may have had an enforced lay-off from mapmaking due to computer problems, but his skills seem to have kept on developing, because this seems a clever and very playable arena. I am not sure that it is entirely a "one on one" map, mainly because when I was playing it for the first time, there were four or five of us, and, while busy, it was still working well. There are various surprises, which I will now proceed to spoil for you...
Well, three sides of this main room have mirrors; on the fourth side there is a slightly-visible "hidden door", which opens when you fire at the bouncer-style target on that side of the central pyramid. Leap down, and you splash-land in water at the bottom of the shaft (unless you happen to hit an edge...); clamber out, and you are in a "secret room" with all the pick-ups you would expect, including a whomper. Wave to yourself in the mirror, and then step on the black bit of floor to be teleported up onto the top of the pyramid, where the scattershot is waiting! Walking around up there may be what triggers a "crusher" arrangement under the pyramid...
See that light blue bit in the screenshot? That is a shallow square pool under the main pyramid, in which, if it has respawned of course, you can grab a whomper. Of course, running through there leaves you vulnerable, for a moment, to the crusher!
So, plenty of invention, and plenty of strategy possibilities, all in cuddly Amateur Arena colours. You get a nice variety of weapons, and everything looks good and works well. Icedude intends to do a "one on one" for every one of the original arenas - he has certainly got off to a good start.
